Synchronous and asynchronous execution

This page describes StackState version 4.3.

The StackState 4.3 version range is End of Life (EOL) and no longer supported. We encourage customers still running the 4.3 version range to upgrade to a more recent release.

Overview

Functions in StackState run with either synchronous or asynchronous execution. For some functions it is possible to choose the execution type.

Asynchronous execution (recommended)

Functions that run with asynchronous execution have access to all StackState Script APIs. It is also possible for more functions to run in parallel with asynchronous execution.

Synchronous execution

When a function runs with synchronous execution, it will not have access to the StackState script APIs. If it is possible to choose an execution type, it is recommended to choose asynchronous execution.
