Basic Agent Usage for Debian

This guide will outline the basic functionality of the Stackstate Agent. To install the agent follow the following commands

wget ''

dpkg -i stackstate-agent_1.2.0-1_amd64.deb

After this set the dd_url in stackstate.conf.example to the location where stackstate is installed e.g. ‘/stsAgent/‘. After this the axample configution can be used as configuration.

cp /etc/sts-agent/stackstate.conf.example /etc/sts-agent/stackstate.conf

The process to upgrade from the previous version of the agent is to simply re-run the installation.

Starting and Stopping the Agent

To manually start the Agent:

sudo /etc/init.d/stackstate-agent start

To stop the Agent:

sudo /etc/init.d/stackstate-agent stop

To restart the Agent and to reload the configuration files:

sudo /etc/init.d/stackstate-agent restart

Status and Information

To check if the Agent is running:

sudo /etc/init.d/stackstate-agent status

To receive information about the Agent’s state:

sudo /etc/init.d/stackstate-agent info

Tracebacks for errors can be retrieved by setting the -v flag:

sudo /etc/init.d/stackstate-agent info -v

The configuration file for the Agent is located at /etc/sts-agent/stackstate.conf
